Happy Monday everyone! I ordered this outfit from asos.com the minute I spotted it on their site. I love a matching set. It takes the guesswork out of getting dressed! I don’t know about you, but I can get overwhelmed by my clothes. I open my closet and I see a sea of color. I organize my closet with tops on the upper racks, sweaters stacked in piles, and denim and pants folded on hangers along the bottom racks. Everything by color, light to dark. Dresses and jumpsuits and long coats are along the back of the closet, and shoes wherever I can fit them. It all looks pretty hanging there, especially when I am going through a tidy phase.
BUT, even though my closet may be organized, like probably most people’s, it is not organized by outfit. It can be hard to decide what to wear if I am only coordinating an outfit at the last minute. One morning, I might pull out a yellow sweater but if I am not sure what to wear with it, I might try on like five different pairs of jeans until I decide finally which looks best. At this rate, it can take me 30 minutes to choose and it can make me so late.
In order to avoid this, I like to buy pre-planned outfits, like the blue matching set. Or, if I buy a random yellow sweater, I make mental notes (and often take mirror selfies) so I can remember what pants or skirts would go with it from my closet. I also try to plan out what coat I would wear over it, and what shoes and bag would go best with it. I always think of the movie Clueless when she has that contraption in her closet that spins around with polaroids of her outfits so she knows what to wear with what! (I actually do not know why something like that has not been invented!) I really dislike being stuck standing in my closet with wet hair, no makeup and minutes ticking past, panicking because I have no idea what to wear.
Even though I’m staying home with my kids now, and don’t have to be at work at a certain time every day, I still hate wasting time getting ready. The alarm goes off at 6:30, I throw on gym clothes, make the girls breakfast, get them dressed, drop them at school and then I go work out. I am home by 10 or 10:30, when I shower and get dressed. Because it is so late in the morning when I even start getting ready, if I am not efficient it can take me until noon before I am even out the door! In my book this is not ok. It cuts into valuable time which could be spent on other things! So no matter if you are working or not, efficiency in getting dressed is key. But the struggle is real. Any tips you all have for getting ready faster? I would love to hear them!
Thanks for reading!
