The “Shacket” Trend – Two Ways!

Look 1: Shacket: & Other Stories | White jeans: & Other Stories | Mules: Bottega Veneta | Bag: Bottega Veneta

Look 2: Joggers: Anthropologie | Sneakers: Golden Goose

A “shacket” you say?

I got this heavy wool work shirt (also known on Instagram as a “shacket”) recently at & Other Stories on one of my many trips to their Oculus location!  I always love to have a meander in that store, and probably go in at least once a week.  The blue color grabbed me immediately and I was super excited to see they were coming out with a version of shacket!  In case you were wondering, a shacket is more than a shirt, but lighter than a jacket!  Perfect for layering this spring.  Isabel Marant did a long plaid one last fall that I bought and wore a few times, then sold.  It was too voluminous and too cumbersome.  This one is perfect – not too long, and the color adds a feminine and fun twist.

How to wear the “shacket”

In the first look, I’m wearing it with my wide legged white denim and Bottega Lido mules and in the second look (see below) I dressed it down with some joggers and sneakers.  I definitely prefer look 1, but realistically I will be walking around NYC all day long in look 2 (welcome to mom life!).  There is no way I am toddling around on 4 inch Bottega mules to school pickup and then to dance class… haha!  But, that said, this week we are going out to dinner twice and I definitely would consider wearing the first outfit for an evening out.  I might add a black belt to the white denim jeans to break it up against the white tee shirt, but otherwise I am happy with how that first outfit looks.

Other ways to wear a shacket?

I’ve seen shackets on Instagram over straight leg denim with ankle boots or pumps.  I think a shacket looks great with a heel to offset its inherently masculine feel.  You could also belt the shacket itself to give it more shape!  Fun to experiment.  I like this blue one because it looks more girly just straight out of the box and I always love a more feminine look for everything!

Would you wear a shacket?  What do you think?  I would love to know!  Thanks for reading!
